R. Stephen Rayfield Biography
R. Stephen Rayfield is founder and President of ESIL, a marketing logistics consulting firm, which creates and manages total marketing business programs in all areas. ESIL, established in 1990, is a North American firm whose goals are to develop and increase marketing skill's sets of key organizational people, through creating specific company learning programs and individual coaching sessions for the people. ESIL seeks to leverage the product or service marketing equity, of the people, of the products and for the shareholders.
Stephen Rayfield coaches people to use a variety of marketing tools and techniques to add value to their products and services. His business experience spans Fortune 100 corporations and international services where he gained extensive hands-on experience in marketing various products and services in a variety of real life situations. He now coaches others to find the right marketing tools and techniques while creating solid marketing systems and executing key marketing projects.
Steve has worked a s a professor at Seneca College Of Applied Arts And Technology community college. He has spent seven years teaching night school and three years at daytime levels. He worked with students at every level of the, from introductory year to graduate year on a variety of different marketing, basic psychology, advertising, and salesmanship subjects. This included developing the course, creating exams, generating projects, marking, coaching for class presentations and overall evaluation and motivation of students. For the International Research class worked the students to obtain an above average score and aiding a group of core students who achieved grade averages sufficient to partake in a one-year program in Holland.
Prior to establishing ESIL (Exceptional Strategies Innovative Learning) he worked for Hiram Walker & Sons Ltd. He was responsible for staff hiring, brand management training program development, new product development/launch, technical support, strategic planning, and project development both nationally and internationally. Managed research programs, supplier negotiations, international brand evaluation and international brand presentations. Additionally he trained Canadian, United States and European Marketing groups in effective new product development and planning.
He conceived, recruited, and developed a team of internal specialists from all areas of the decentralized company, reducing costs and project time up to 30% on several key projects. During his tenure he developed and launched three new brands in three different beverage alcohol categories.
Prior to Hiram Walker & Sons Ltd., he worked for Ralston Purina Canada Limited. He supervised 14 people including managing the overall business, training, and motivation. This included systems development, advertising, P & L budgets, forecasting, trade shows, expense control and promotional activities. Responsible for people development, business development, business analysis, new product development and launch, package design working, and a promotional program for the division. He successfully developed and launched Ready-to-Eat Private label cereal business in Canada, including brand selection, packaging, chain store sell in, and U.S. production and forecasting requirements.
Stephen started his marketing career with the classic package goods company General Mills. His claim to fame is the launch of Nature valley Granola bars. As Product Manager on Cheerios and other national brands he learned the core basics and began applying them for practical solutions.
Steve has 34 years of hands-on practical experience marketing. An extensively accomplished business executive with success in all facets of marketing; from development of products, to strategic planning, to new product development for companies ranging form Fortune 500 companies and to start up companies.
His background has been highlighted by visionary approach to long-term business development, training, and problem solving; broad based experience in many industries expediting marketing projects. Award winning professional with leadership and organizational abilities necessary to enhance bottom-line growth, overall profitability and productivity; strives for staff motivation, people growth, and revenue improvements.
A international published author his latest book is WHY MY COMPANY NEEDS Integrated Marketing NOW!. He is a Keynote Speaker in both National and International forums. Steve is a course leader for the American Management Association on seminars in Canada, Europe and US. He is a guest speaker in other CMC, AMA, and MCE Marketing programs and seminar. Since establishing ESIL in 1990 he has personally trained over 2,768 people in marketing experiences.
Steve was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He has helped in raising three tall children. His wife, Bette, is the General Manager of ESIL and works both internally and on key client assignments.
When not coaching he indulges in his 1940 P-10 Plymouth car and looking at his collection of Disney Mickey Mouse pencil sketches.
